College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU, Jalukie and Divisional Forest Office, Jalukie, Govt. of Nagaland jointly organized the “World Wildlife Week-2024” on 2nd and 3rd of Oct’ 2024. The programme was celebrated under the theme “Wildlife Conservation through Co-existence”.
Prof. Gunjan Das, convener of the programme offered the welcome speech and mentioned about Wildlife Week Celebration and importance. Dr. Prabhat Kumar, IFS & DFO Peren graced the occasion and also delivered a lecture on the theme. He pressed upon creating awareness among people about the importance of conservation of wildlife flora and fauna by way of co-existence. Dr. I. Shakuntala, Dean of the college enlightened about the importance of conservation and its connection with “One-Health” aspect, besides appealing to the people to ensure the safety of the endangered species.
A Pictograph competition was also organized as part of the celebration for the students on the topic “Endangered Birds and Wild Animals of 8 North-Eastern States” on 2nd of Oct’ 2024. The internship students of the college visited the rubber plantation unit of Divisional Forest Office, Jalukie, Govt. of Nagaland and other units of forest range office on 3rd of Oct’ 2024.
