The “Virtual 27th Zonal Review Workshop of KVKs of Zone – IX, Jabalpur” organized by the ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh from 29th to 31st July, 2020 concluded today.
In his valedictory address, the Chief Guest, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare applauded the Krishi Vigyan Kendras’ role in realizing the target of doubling the farmers’ income by 2022. The Minister also urged to develop the Integrated Farming System (IFS) models and the Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations (FPOs) by roping small and marginal farmers to harvest more benefits. Shri Tomar emphasized on the promotion of cluster farming by the KVKs by using the region’s potential and farmers’ capacity for improving the agriculture scenario in the country. Regarding the villages and farmers as the two main pillars to make Atmanirbhar Bharat, he accentuated on promoting organic farming and natural farming for enhancing the resource efficiency and income by getting higher price in domestic and international markets.
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) complimented the ICAR-ATARI, Jabalpur and KVKs for initiatives in Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture, ITK and traditional varieties registration under the PPV&FRA. The Director General applauded the Convergence Model in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh State agriculture and other development departments.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR emphasized on blending of the indigenous technologies with the modern technology in farming to enrich the natural resources and reduce the cost along with validation and documentation of the identified new ITKs. The Deputy Director General also accentuated on the initiatives on nutrition garden models, Kadaknath and tribal area development models in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
In his welcome address, Dr. Anupam Mishra, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh outlined the KVK’s initiatives and progress of work done in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Dr. V.P. Chahal, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR proposed the vote of thanks.
Shri Kamal Patel, Minister of Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh inaugurated the workshop on 29th July, 2020. A total of 221 participants participated in the workshop.
