Burning problem of stray cows and needs solutions

India is a largest milk producing country in the world. Ancient past history of India, the golden period of Lord Krishna. The cow was considered as an auspicious and holy animal. People used to call Gaumata and worship her like God.

But now a days cow is menace and neglected by its owner and we observe cows on road. This becomes obstacles and hinderance in day to day in human life. Not only that man, woman and children they get injured, leading to severe accidental death, because of stray cows. To control this situation Municipal Corporations have started catching cows and put them in their animal shelters. During this process we observe cruelty on poor cows. They hit and beat stray cows. They tie and forcefully drag these mother holy cows near mobile vans and transport them to their animal shelters. During this process injuries to cows and public on road takes place meanwhile cow owner they come to quarrel and fight with cow catching party to prevent cows going to animal shelters of corporation in order to escape from fine and penalty of corporation. This whole process is apparently looking cruelty on stray cows for sake of negligence and mismanagement of cow owners. So putting cows on road by them is a burning problem of society.

Now it is high time to think other way to catching cows and do cruelty on them. To mitigate the menace of stray cows there is a need to find out the resources for putting cows on road by their owner. In the city area cow owner have a greater number of animals with less resources of space and food for cows. It is mismanagement and negligence of cow owner. They are greedy and selfish to get free food for cows, so they let loose cows on road.

Cow is a holy mother and gives good income if properly maintained. There is a record a single cow gives milk and cow dung worth Rs. 20 to 30 thousand or more in a year. This can be the important factor for cow owner the interest of cow owner to keep cows in own shelter can be enhanced by making cows as a more productive entity. This theme of keeping cows in their shelter is possible by increasing the value of cow, cow milk, cow urine and cow dung.

Measures to increase income from cow dung and urine is an attraction for cow owner. So, they may care and will not let loose cows on road. Moreover, they will become self-reliant and prosperous by proper innovative steps to raise value of cow products like milk, dungs and urine.

In Hindu religion we believe cow is holy and auspicious animal containing 33 crore God and Goddesses. Cow milk is complete food containing necessary amino acids, minerals and vitamins, cow dung and cow urine are efficacious products. As cow dung is giving protection against atomic radiation, while cow urine has medicinal values. Cow dung and urine mixture is working as a organic fertilizer and reduces hazard of greenhouse gas of atmosphere. The mixture of cow milk, curd, ghee, urine and dung is called Panchgauvya, which has its own in religious and pharmaceutical values. More over mixture of cow milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar is Panchamrut useful in holy rituals of Hindu religion.

A proper mechanism or system is needed for proper marketing to produce and sell cow milk and milk products like flavored milk, kesar milk, turmeric milk, milk with ashwagandha etc. which are good for human health instead of cold drinks like, Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Cow curd and cow ghee have more nutritive values for human health as immunity booster.

Now use of cow dung and cow urine is a source of more income than milk and milk products cow dung is not only vermicompost or organic manure but from cow dung we can get gas and light more over cow dung can be used to prepare different decorative products like dhoop stick, havan cup and diya and gobar stick, dung bricks and vedic plaster, paper, toys, soap, mosquito coil etc.

It is observed that more than twenty types of medicines can be prepared from cow urine and cow urine therapy is safe and effective method of treatment of diseases including cancer. Cow urine is best fertilizer and pesticides for agriculture.

Thus importance, utility and necessity of cow is well known from the religious, spiritual and scientific point of view. Therefore, meticulous planning to get income from cow milk, cow dung and cow urine will definitely help cow owners to keep cows indoor.

Now it is a time to educate farmers regarding income generation activities by establishing self help groups and to start cow dung and urine co-operative societies like milk co-operative societies for collecting, storing and utilizing dung and urine. Groups members are required to be trained by providing short term courses like by products innovations for wealth .creations i.e. from waste to wealth by local to vocal process of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan to make India as a Visvaguru to full fill the dream of our Prime minister.

Necessary steps to control animal owner activities and for public safety regulations:

1. To issue license and its fee to keep animals in city area .
2. To frame rules and regulations, with signed agreement to keep prescribed no. Of animals in city area by looking his capacity in terms of his space of land and his economical status to maintain his animals for issue of license with standard fee.
3. To provide photo Id card with name, address, phone number, Aadhar card no. and  his  vehicle number. which will help to collect his license fee ,renewal license fee or any fine or penalty when needed.
4. Periodical checkup of heath of animals by authorised veterinary doctor.
5. To arrange CCTv camera to monitor animal movement
6. Provision of fine and high penalty for violating rules and regulations of keeping their animals. This can also be monitored by observing animal movement in camera

By meticulous planning as above Municipal corporation can save the recurring  expenditure like:

1. Animal catching staff ,his pay and allowances , cost of instruments, vehicles ,petrol and their maintenance ,cost of animal shelters and maintenance of it.
2. There will not be any incidence of smuggling of animals from their animal shelters, as it happens.
3. Reduction in road accidents and mortality due to stray animals.
4. At last burden of police department will be minimised and public and society will be happy.
