GADVASU extends its services by establishing Multi-Specialty Veterinary Hospital– Dr. Inderjeet Singh, VC

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) attended the Bhumi Pujan ceremony for start of the construction of the first phase of the Multi-Specialty Veterinary Hospital and Regional Research & Training Center (MSVH&RRTC) wing at village Sappanwali. GADVASU along with the support of Punjab Government has taken an initiative to extend specialized veterinary services through establishment of Multi-Specialty Veterinary Hospital and Regional Research & Training Centers (MSVH&RRTC) at different locations in the State. First of its kind initiative has been taken by MSVH&RRTC at Village Sappanwali, Abohar, Fazilka with dedicated area specific specialized services, diagnostic facility, surgical suites and a spectrum of technologies to assist clinicians in the diagnosis and treatment of complex disease conditions leading to much needed respite to the farmers. Ceremony was also attended by Dr. Satyavan Rampal, DSW-cum-Estate, GADVASU officials, Panchayat members and officers from the district Animal Husbandry.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, highlighted the significance of the Center for addressing most of the livestock problems from District Fazilka and adjoining borders that require specialized. The Center also envisages the promotion of area specific need based research on production of livestock for strategic promotion and socio-economic benefits to the farmers.

Dr. Satyavan Rampal, extended gratitude to the Punjab Government and the village panchayats of Village Sappanwali and Village Gidranwali who have been transferred land in the name of GADVASU for the establishment of these facilities with an estimated budget of Rs. 62.14 Crores. Facilities like Veterinary dedicated hospital with all optimum services, Regional Research Center for updation and training of farmers and a fisheries Unit model with integrated Livestock Farm will be established. The Integrated Livestock Farming-cum-Climate Smart Model for Dairy, Pig, Goat unit and a fish farm will be the upcoming unit at Gidranwali Village.

Dr. Prahlad Singh, Nodal officer of the project said that the MSVH & RRTC will have a dedicated areas for specialized services and a spectrum of cutting edge technologies to be delivered to the farmers through hospital critical care and extension services. Technologies generated at University, State and National level Institutes will be shared with the farmers at the center. The MSVH&RRC will be a boon for the farmers of District Fazilka and will have an additive effect on the extension of the university services and a knowledge Centre.
