Department of Livestock Production Management, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a one-day training programme on ‘‘Bio-security measures at Livestock and Poultry farm’ for SC Laboratory attendants working at livestock farm under the scheme ICAR-01 (SC-SP component).
Dr. Yashpal Singh, course director and head of the department with team of Dr. Kulvinder Singh Sandhu and Dr. Subhash Chandra as coordinators conducted this training under the guidance of Dr SPS Ghuman Dean, College of Veterinary Science. Ten trainees participated in the training programme to attain knowledge on the various aspects of bio-security measures at Livestock and Poultry Farms. Trainees were made aware about prophylactic measures to control diseases at farms including vaccination. Special lecture was delivered on one health to control and avoid zoonotic diseases.
A visit was also made to livestock farms of University to familiarize them with various bio-security measures in working . Dr. S K Uppal, Dean postgraduate studies was the chief guest in the valedictory function and he distributed the certificates to the trainees.
Dr Uppal informed that negligence of bio-security measures at farms is big issue for the health of animals as well as workers. He interacted with the trainees and strongly advised to follow bio-security measures in day-to-day practices as well. He praised the department for conducting this training. Dangri and gum boots were also given to the trainees. He encouraged organizers to conduct more such type of trainings in future.
