9 August 2019: Shri Mahadeo Jagannath Jankar, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries, Government of Maharashtra inaugurated the 15th Meeting of Regional Committee No. – VII (RCM-VII) at ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, Nagpur today. The Committee comprises of States of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa.

The Minister emphasized on the convergence of the technologies based on the available resources as these would help in solving the farmer’s problems as well as doubling the farmer’s income by the Year – 2022. He also highlighted State of Maharashtra’s achievements in the horticulture and dry land agriculture.

Shri Jankar applauded the farmers of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for their remarkable achievements to raise the productivity of the field crops.

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) highlighted the country’s self-sufficiency in food. He emphasized on finding out the solutions for the utilization of excess produce and converting them to other by-products by the value-addition. The Director General highlighted the policy action taken for utilizing the excess production of sugar into bio-ethanol for addressing the issue of fuel.

Dr. K. Alagusundaram, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering & Natural Resource Management), ICAR, New Delhi and Nodal officer, ICAR-RCM – VII highlighted the importance of the State Nagpur and raised the important point to be deliberated during the meeting.

Dr. Joykrushna Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science) deliberated on the role of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry in doubling the farmer’s income by the Year – 2022.

Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning, Nagpur and Member Secretary, ICAR-RCM – VII proposed the formal vote of thanks.

Shri Anoop Kumar, Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Fishery and Dairy, Government of Maharashtra and Shri Vikas Rastogi, Chief Executive Officer, Project on Climate Resilient Agriculture along with the Senior Officials of ICAR and State Agricultural Universities were also present during the occasion.
