8 November 2019: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated “National Livestock and Poultry Show 2019” organised by Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Assam in presence of Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Sri Giriraj Singh at the veterinary college playground Khanapara on 8th November 2019.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that livestock and poultry sectors had lots of potential to generate employment and boost the rural economy. He stated that Assam was the first state in the country to have adopted Policy for Private Investment Promotion in Livestock Sector which would be implemented from January next year to encourage youth of the state to engage in the sector with vigor. He urged the farmers to work hard to fulfill the requirement of huge population of north east region. Sonowal said that through implementation of Act East Policy avenues had been opened for capturing the 80 crore population market of SE Asian and BBN countries and poultry and livestock sectors could play a major role in that. He said efforts must be initiated to increase the production of egg, meat, milk and milk products etc instead of importing from outside the state in order to make Assam an exporting state.
on this occasion Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Giriraj Singh said that there is lot of scopes for developing north east region as an export hub of poultry, livestock meats, eggs etc through adoption of latest technology. Animal Husbandry Minister Sri Atul Bora spoke on this occasion and said the National Livestock and Poultry Show would be able to show the right path to the young generation of the state to find self-employment in poultry and livestock sector. Arunachal Pradesh Government’s Minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department Tage Taki also spoke at the programme which was attended by Media Adviser to the Chief Minister Hrishikesh Goswami, MLAs Bhaben Bharali, Satyabrat Kalita among others.
