Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Mr. J.P Dalal has welcomed the decision of Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for approving the Ordinance to promote barrier-free inter-state and intra-state trade in agriculture produce. He said that the ordinance would certainly pave the way for creating ‘One India, One Agriculture Market’ and this would  enable farmers to sell their produce anywhere in the country.

In a statement issued here today, the Agriculture Minister said that the Cabinet has also approved the recommendations proposed of Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices for declaring the Minimum Support Price for Kharif crops, which is also a welcome step.

The Agriculture Minister said that the NDA government led by Prime Minister Mr.  Narendra Modi is the first Government which has implemented a formula for fixing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops every year, and the MSP is announced before the sowing season starts. Thus helping the farmers to make up their minds in advance to take decision regarding sowing of their crops as per the prices.

He said that while the Union Cabinet decision would ensure beneficial prices for the farmers produce, the income of the farmers would also increase. He said that Haryana is among those states which makes certain to give MSP as per the recommendations of the Commission. He said that achieving Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s target of doubling the farmers’ income by the year 2022 is Haryana’s priority.

He said that on one hand, Haryana is swiftly moving ahead towards the concept Peri-urban, while on the other it is also making sure to meet the daily demands of products including milk, fruits, vegetables, flowers and poultry required for about 5 crore population residing in the National Capital Region.

The Minister said that farmers’ interest is the topmost priority of both the Central and State Government and in the past, many farmer-friendly decisions have been taken.

He said that despite the lockdown, due to the efficient procurement management by Haryana Government, there has been a record purchase of mustard, wheat, and other rabi crops and now procurement of sunflower would also be started from June 5, 2020.
