Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran lined up a five-days vocational training on “Value addition of dairy produce for self-employment” under the Sub component Scheduled Caste- Sub Plan (SC-SP) of scheme ICAR-01: “Strengthening and Development of Higher Agricultural Education in India” at Village Naurangabad, District- Tarn Taran. A total of 25 farmers and farm women actively participated in the programme. While conducting this activity, Dr Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director (T), KVK, Tarn Taran delivered an inaugural lecture and guided the participants regarding reconciling a subsidiary occupation through adopting value addition techniques for dairy produce.
This five days programme was coordinated by Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor, Home Science and delivered lectures focused on nutritional profile of milk as well as importance and execution of diverse array of scientific milk processing techniques. Dr. Suresh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Livestock Production Management explained the advantages of adding value to milk and factors involved in spoilage of milk. Dr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Soil Science explained about price fixation and marketing techniques of value added milk products in detailed manner. Besides, Dr. Dhillon demonstrated the standard methods of preparing Flavored Milk, Paneer and Mango Whey Drink.
To recapitulate, Dr. Balwinder Kumar enlightened the trainees with regard to financial support facilities provided by government agencies. Concluding this programme, Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon thanked all the trainees for sparing their valuable time to participate in this programme. Trainees applauded the efforts of KVK for imparting vocational training at their village.
