23 July 2019: A one day National Workshop on ‘Awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and its management’ was organized at ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle (ICAR-CIRC), Meerut on 23rd July, 2019 to sensitize scientists, researchers and others dealing with IPR issues and rights. The workshop was held under the chairmanship of Dr. N.V. Patil, Director ICAR-CIRC, Meerut.
In his keynote address, Dr. N.V. Patil, Director, ICAR-CIRC and Chairman ITMU emphasized the importance of IPRs & its protection and also highlighted the different elements which provide opportunities for the protection of technologies for best utilization. He also reiterated about identification and short listing of protectable technologies to be generated by the Institute.
Dr. N.N. Pathak , Ex- Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Buffalo (ICAR-CIRB), Hissar was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, he tinted the inevitability of understanding of various interfaces of Intellectual property.
On this occasion 65 participants from ICAR-CIRC, Meerut, ICAR-NDRI, Karnal, ICAR-NRC on Yak, Arunachal Pradesh, ICAR-IIFSR, Modipuram, ICAR-CPRI, Modipuram, and other nearby organizations attended the workshop. Dr. Rajib Deb, Scientist (SS) and Incharge ITMU , who delivered welcomed address has explained the purpose and objectives of the workshop and also informed about the functioning of the ITMU, ICAR-CIRC, Meerut.
On this occasion two invited lectures were organised on the emerging issues of IPR management. Dr. Rajan Sharma, Principal Scientist and Incharge ZTMU, ICAR-NDRI, Karnal delivered the lecture on “Commercialization of Technologies: Issues and Opportunities“. He introduced the house about the commercialization of technologies and how to use this at grass root level. He also informed about the scope of revenue generation through commercialization of technologies. In his lecture , he elaborately presented the issues on technology transfer, it’s price fixation and the role AgroInnovate Pvt. Ltd.
Lecture on “Various legal issues on filing IPRs and their protection” was given by Ms Vidisha Grag, Patent attorney, Anand & Anand, Noida. She introduce various legal aspects of filing Intellectual Property Rights. She also discussed about various patent offices and how to decide the jurisdiction for filing the application. The presentation also deals at length the patent prosecution process and critical statutes that need to be taken care of during the prosecution. Her presentation also dealt with the pre-grant and post-grant procedures and filing of the statements of commercial working.
