30th August 2019: The Arid Region Campus of ICAR-Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Bikaner organized a Farmers’-Scientists’-Interaction Meet (Krishak Vaigyanik Sangoshthi) under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan component.

The Chief Guest, Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare stressed on constituting the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) to get remunerative prices for their farm products. The Minister also emphasized on the importance of mixed farming for the better livelihood in the drought-prone arid climatic conditions. Shri Choudhary urged to impart the training to the farmers for improving their skills in making Namda and other woolen handicrafts.

Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises was also present during the occasion. The farmers were distributed 20 Marwari and 25 Magra breed superior breeding Rams (males) during the occasion for genetic improvement of their animals.

A folder on Marwari Bhed – Rajasthan ke Maru Kshetra ki Shaan with information on breeding, feeding and health management of Marwari Sheeps and Bhed Palan Pustika with details on scientific management of sheep for Rajasthan were released on the occasion. Around 400 farmers from Rajasthan State participated in the event.
