A team of 45 Progressive Farmers and Retired Officers from the Government of Tamil Nadu visited the ICAR-National Organic Farming Research Institute, Tadong and their adopted villages (Nandok, Timpyem, Thanka-Martam and Thanka-Lingtam) from 5th to 7th February, 2020.
Dr. R.K. Avasthe, Joint Director, ICAR-NOFRI briefed about the various research, capacity building and skill development programmes being undertaken by the ICAR-NOFRI during the last five years. He emphasized that the programmes aims at doubling the farmers’ income by the Year – 2022 and also improve their livelihood through practicing the organic farming. Dr. Avasthe briefed about the soil health management and organic conservation agriculture practices for the field crop production.
The scientists showcased the demonstrations of ICAR-NOFRI technologies undertaken at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Farm as well as their adopted villages at Nandok, Timpyem, Thanka-Martam and Thanka-Lingtam, East Sikkim to the progressive farmers of Tamil Nadu.
