Central Government today declare the rate of compensation to the pig owners for culling of pigs (in the containment zone) to prevent spread of African Swine Fever in country. The share of Government of India, under Assistance to States for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD) a component of Livestock Health and Disease Control (LH&DC) Scheme will be 50% of the compensation rate.
As per the direction issued to the states/UT, Central Government has decided the compensation rates as per categories and Carcass Weight of the culled pig:
- Piglet (Upto 15 kg): Rs. 2200
- Grower/Finisher/Adult: (15-40 kg): Rs. 5800
- Finisher/Adult/breeding Boar/Sow: (40-70 kg): Rs. 8400
- Finisher/Adult/breeding Boar/Sow: (70-100 kg): Rs. 12000
- Adult/breeding Boar/Sow: (70-100 kg): Rs. 15000
In case of Animal feed destroyed the compensation rates to the pig owners will be Rs 22 per kg of feed destroyed.
The compensation is payable to the pig owner on pig culled by State/UT and is computed on the basis of the carcass weight of the pig. further Center has directed State/UT that compensation, either for culling of pigs or for destruction of feed, shall be paid in no other mode than payment online (via RTGS/NEFT) directly into the bank account of the beneficiary.
About 9-10 months ago i.e. in the month of September, 2022, my approx. 600 Pigs were Cull by the Animal Husbandry Department of Haryana Government because as per the medical reports of AHD, my pigs were infected with ASF. As per Government policy, I am entitle for a compensation for my loss, but till date I did not get any compensation nor any information or communication regarding this from the concerned Department.
