Haryana, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Fisheries, Mr. Jai Prakash Dalal has directed departmental officers to undertake 2,000 more fisheries projects in the current financial year and give training to atleast 5,000 youth of the state at the district-level, so that they can become self-reliant. He also directed to explore the opportunities to set up fisheries processing units and to set up an aquarium project in Gurugram.
Mr. Dalal was presiding over a review meeting of Fisheries Department officers here today. Additional Chief Secretary of Fisheries Department, Mr. V.S. Kundu, Special Secretary and Deputy Commissioner of Rohtak, Mr. R.S. Verma, Director Mr. M.S. Malik and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
The Minister instructed the officers that youth should be encouraged to set up maximum fishery projects in waterlogged areas and shrimp farming projects in saline water areas. He said that the officers should continue to work on traditional projects, as well as to prepare an outline for new projects by bringing in new ideas and if required, thereafter the Central Government will be requested to get them approved. He said that the objective of the state government is to fulfill the vision of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi by doubling the income of farmers by 2022 even before the stipulated time.
Mr. Dalal instructed the departmental officers to update the website of the Department so that youth interested in fisheries can get detailed information. He instructed to publish pamphlets and brochures with details of the latest projects, criteria and policies of the department. He also directed the officers to upload the details regarding the number of fisheries projects given to youths from year 2015 till now along with the figure of successful and failed projects and the subsidy granted on a portal.
He instructed the officers to train maximum youths at the district-level for fisheries. He suggested that apart from subject experts in this training programme, successful farmers in the field of fisheries should be introduced so that the trainees can be encouraged. He suggested that a tour of any fishery project should also be organized.
He further directed the officers of the Fisheries Department to complete the target within the stipulated period and a meeting will be held to review the progress works of the given projects in the next one month subsequently.
