The ICAR-National Research Centre on Pig, Guwahati, Assam and Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Research Society (IAAVR), Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh jointly organized the National e-Workshop cum Webinar on “Current Perspective of Swine Diseases in India and its Management Practices” from 11th to 12th January, 2021.
In his inaugural address, Dr. B.N. Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR emphasized on the importance of pig production system in the country. Dr. Tripathi also stressed on the need for developing the multivalent vaccines.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. K.M. Bujarbaruah, Former Vice-Chancellor, AAU & Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR outlined the strategies for preventing the trans-boundary and zoonotic diseases in India.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, ADG (AH), ICAR emphasized on the importance of infectious diseases of the pigs including bacterial, viral and parasitic in the production system.
Dr. Swaraj Rajkhowa, Director, NRC on Pig, Guwahati, Assam presented the brief report of the programme. The Experts from the field of swine health deliberated on issues related to different important pathogens affecting the pig production.
