Agriculture and allied sectors are the main driving force of Assam’s economy. The livestock farmers of Assam have been playing an important role in this regard. In order to increase the reach of Artificial Insemination (AI) for breed improvement of cattle a Regional Artificial Insemination Training Institute (RAITI) for North Eastern Region will be set up in Assam under the Rastriya Gokul Mission (RGM).
Sri Atul Bora Honorable Minister, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Assam laid the foundation stone of Regional Artificial Insemination Training Institute (RAITI) for North Eastern Region today at Khanapara, Guwahati, Assam. Regional Artificial Insemination Training Institute (RAITI) will train about 400 Multi-Purpose AI Technician for Rural India (MAITRIs) every year, which will help in capacity building/training of large number of youth in quality Artificial Insemination (AI) service delivery there by increasing AI coverage in North Eastern states.
In this program, tablets were also distributed to the “MAITRIs” to facilitate the data entries of Artificial Insemination and other activities in INAPH portal. Sri Atul Bora also launched and flagged off the ‘Liquid Nitrogen Transport Tanker’ service for Assam Livestock Development Agency (ALDA) in the same program. Shri Rajesh Prasad, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Assam, Shri Meenesh Shah, Executive Director, NDDB and Shri Shyam Jagannathan, Commissioner and Secretary, Dept. of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary were present on the occasion.
