Animals are important creature of the world. They help us in uncountable ways such as they provide us eggs to eat and milk to drink, their body hair is used to make woollen clothes, etc. they also act as transport system on ruler areas, desserts, mountains, etc. in a way, we can say that we our dependent on animals for our needs. Animals sometimes too can take a human out of depression as their small actions can bring a smile on a human’s face even if he is suffering from some serious depression.

Veterinarians are the people who are capable of treating injured animals or animals suffering from diseases. They specifically study about the diseases caused in animals and the cure to it. Since animals can’t talk, they have to acknowledge their disease by observing their activities. Palkapya was the first veterinarian in India. He wrote Hasti ayurveda, a book covering aspects of all elephant medicines. When we usually talk about veterinarians we think that they only treat animals physically but actually there presence can effect the animal mentally as animals feel secure when around them. Veterinarians aren’t just the people who serve animals but also serve our nation like they did in COVID 19.

COVID-19, a disease which has changed the way of living life, a virus that has killed many innocent souls, it is not just a disease or virus but also it did bring a time where we humans had to fight together without staying united. This was the first war which we had to fight without any weapons but the only key to win this war was to stay at home and by maintaining social distancing. it definitely was a tough time but our doctors, policemen, veterinarians, nurses and scientists have performed their level best to bring the ‘normal’ back. it’s obviously not the same but still a progress has been observed.

In the episode of the current pandemic, unity is the key, on the festival of veterinary day, OIE pays tribute to the great effort made by veterinarians to support the human health sector from searching to human sample testing. Even during this unfortunate period, veterinarians provided proper treatment to the animals by visiting hospitals even during pandemic. veterinarians too did overnight duties to provide animals treatment whenever needed. they didn’t lose hope even when it was over a year of finding COVID vaccine. During COVID 19, veterinarians distributed animals such as hens, goats, etc through government programs. The difficult part was that they distributed animals moving place to place during covid when we were scared of even stepping out of our houses. Veterinarians also gave vaccines to animals to prevent them from diseases during this pandemic. During this pandemic, the world realised that doctors, scientists, veterinarians, nurses are our actual superheroes.

COVID was definitely a dark face but it did help to reduce pollution, global warming, depletion of Ozone layer, etc. it also gave scientists a time to experiment to produce new medicines, vaccines, etc. it also helped to get a periodic climate. This time was hard, but our doctors, veterinarians, nurses, policemen made it a lot easier for us to fulfil our needs even during pandemic. COVID isn’t over yet but our doctors, veterinarians, policemen, nurses inspired us to step out of our houses and to get back to work. We should be proud of ourselves for taking all the precautions and today we are at a time where we can step out of our houses with the ‘new normal’ but with a faith that we are safe.
